Description of the Area Surrounding the Biotope: The Nanay River is a river in northern Peru. It is a tributary of the Amazon River, merging into this river at the city of Iquitos.
The lower part of the Nanay flows to the north and west of the city, while the Itaya River flows to the south and east.
The Nanay belongs entirely to the lowlands, and is very crooked,
has a slow current and divides into many canos ( canal ) and strings of lagoons which flood the flat, low areas of country on either side.
It is simply the drainage ditch of districts which are extensively overflowed in the rainy season.
A part of the Nanay River flows through the Allpahuayo-Mishana National Reserve.
The Nanay is a blackwater river and it has a high fish species richness, including several that are well known from the aquarium industry.
Some of these, are P. Scalare Rio Nanay.Pterophyllum aitum,Pristella maxillaris .

Description of the Underwater Landscape of the Biotope: Vegetation in the river is negligible,
the river current is low or not at all.
The only plant that come across my research are Pistia Stratiotes, Lemna minor.
The sand bed is covered with leaves and dead wood and branches.
it is ideal for small fish such Apistogramma, Corydoras, Pterophyllum scalare, Pristella maxillaris and many species of Characidae.

Description of the Habitat Parameters: water is dark cause by the tannin , the parameters are vary from a ph 3.9 to 6.5 and temperature from 26 c to 28 c depends on the season .

List of Fishes and Invertebrates Occurring in the Nature Biotope: Pristella maxillaris ,Sternarchorhynchus , Brycon cephalus , Pterophyllum aaltum , Auchenipterus ambyiacus ,
P. Scalare Rio Nanay. Callichthys callichthys .

List of Plants Found in the Nature Biotope: Lemna minor, Pistia Stratiotes.

Threats to the Ecology of the Biotope: deforestation / river pollution is a serious threat to the balance of natural ecology.
