Biotope description: The aquarium was set up based on the Içana river biotope, a tributary of the Rio Negro. Slow stream of tropical forests, as well as many other streams and rivers among impenetrable jungles of western Brazil, carry its water in the great Amazon. Water filled the stream after the tropical rains, carrying fallen fruits and leaves from the trees. Near the roots of palm trees, covered with moss and plants, there is a family of Nannacara anomala, and in the shadow of a foliage there are several Carnegiella strigata strigata.
This is very nicely made biotope, but the decorator should have read my articles about the Içana, there Marcel would have read that almost none of these plants grow there, except Echinodorus amazonicus, Eleocharis vivipara, and also that the river has fine white sand.
