INFORMATION ABOUT BIOTOPE
Description of the area surrounding the biotope: “Lake ecosystem” is part of the Mekong river system, Mekong River Delta is located in the Cai Rang district, Can Tho city, Vietnam.
Natural Lakes are usually the remnants of river sections or dyke breaks. These lakes have little rotation of water, mainly receiving water from seasonal rains. Lakes – where light can pass through the water layer to the bottom and a nutrient-rich mud layer. They help aquatic plants grow strongly such as Nymphae lotus, Pistia stratiotes,… Lakes bottom, organic soil humus and plant debris are a source of food for aquatic organisms, contributing to fish diversity.
Description of the underwater landscape of the biotope: The underwater landscape of the biotope consists of a large number of driftwood, tree roots, alluvials and litter from fallen leaves. The main substrate is dark brown silted sand.
Description of the parameters of the habitat: pH varies from 6.3 to 6.8 depending on the season.
List of fishes and invertebrates occurring in the nature biotope: Trichogaster trichopterus, Trichopsis sp., Channa maculata, Anabas testudineus, Clarias batrachu, Oxyeleotris urophthalmus, Brachygobius doriae.
List of plants found in the nature biotope: Nymphae lotus, Pistia stratiotes, Eleocharis dulcis.
Threats to the ecology: Climate Change,Acidification, soil salinization and loss of nutrients in soils caused by irrigated agriculture and their depletion. As a result, the pollution of the Pond ecosystem, Mekong River Delta. The Mekong Delta is submerged for climate change, adversely affecting its water ecosystem.
Sources of information: All the information gathered in this work comes from the personal on-site survey of this water system, which was turned into a Driver and a Youtube . In them you will find photographs and videos of the area made by me and my partner in the project.
