Description of the area surrounding the biotope: This region contains the drainage basin of Rio Tapajós, which is 1930 km long, and the arms that flow from the northern slope of the Brazilian Shield. These rivers are Rio Tapajós, Rio Jamanxim, Rio Teles Pires and Rio Juruena. The water chemistry, underwater image and living variety of these rivers are in great similarity. Rio Tapajós is the fifth great flock of Amazon.
Description of the underwater landscape of the biotope: There is fine sand at the floor specially beige color also andesite and sandrock common.About plants there is not much choice its poor river as plants, you can find riccia and salvinia kinds generally.Branches and roots spread.
Description of the parameters of the habitat: It supplies 6% of the fresh water discharged to Amazon. It flows north along a steady course, the conductivity is low and the pH ranges from 4.5 to 7.8. Its waters are clear and greenish. The average annual temperature in the region ranges from 21 ºC to 27 ºC.
